The first song was 'Uptown Girl' by Billy Joel.

The station is mainly aimed at a family audience with chart songs being played at least 3-4 times an hour. There is also a good mix of older songs from the 70s, 80s and 90s. Music features include "The Mystery 5 at 9". In its broadcast area its listenership outstrips London rivals like Capital and Heart, relying on good local news and travel information.

It was the first radio station in the UK to run the infamous "Fugitive" promotion (2001)
