Abdel Aziz al-Muqrin: Meaning (information, definition, explanation, facts)

Abdulaziz Issa Abdul-Mohsin al-Moqrin (also Abdel Aziz al-Muqrin, Abd al-Aziz al-Muqrin or Abu Hazim) (1972 or 1973 - June 18, 2004) was an al-Qaeda leader in Saudi Arabia. He reportedly took over his role from Yousif Salih Fahad Al-Ayeeri when the latter was killed in a shootout in May, 2003.

It is claimed that he led the faction that claimed responsibility for a series of attacks against Westerners in Saudi Arabia in 2004 and for the kidnapping and beheading of American contractor Paul Johnson in Saudi Arabia. Al-Moqrin trained with Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan.

On June 18, 2004, al-Moqrin was killed in Riyadh during a government-sponsored raid in a downtown neighborhood. Three other al-Qaeda militants on Saudi Arabia's most-wanted list were killed in the raid - Rakan Muhsin Mohammad Alsaykhan, #2 on the list, Turki al Muteiri and Ibrahim al Durayhim. Alsaykhan allegedly had close ties with the planner of the USS Cole bombing.
