Flag of Ontario: Meaning (information, definition, explanation, facts)

The current Flag of Ontario was proclaimed the official flag of the Canadian province of Ontario by the Flag Act on May 21, 1965. The flag is a defaced Red Ensign, with the Union Flag in the upper left hand corner and the Ontario shield of arms in the fly. Prior to 1965 Canada as a whole had used both the Canadian Red Ensign and the Union Flag, but in that year the Maple-leaf flag was introduced as the flag of Canada.
