Philippine based company SpecOpS Labs have announced a product called Project David, which they claim will fully implement the Windows API to allow Linux based systems to run Windows applications without an actual Windows installation.
This claim has been met with derision (and sometimes outright hostility) in the Open Source community, where the prevailing view, based on the information available, is that Project David is most likely just a repackaged version of WINE or Crossover Office; as nobody has actually seen the product in action, however, it is impossible to form a conclusive judgment at present, and we must be open to the possibility that SpecOpS Labs have, as they claim, made significant advances in Windows compatibility technology.
