999 is the United Kingdom's and Ireland's emergency telephone number and Poland's medical emergency number. They are all used alongside the EU standard 112. [1] Either number can be used but 999 is more popular and better-known than 112. It is also used in Botswana, Ghana, the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia, Singapore, Bangladesh, Bahrain, and Qatar.
