The A50 road runs from the M6 at Stoke on Trent to the M1 at Kegworth via Derby. Before the dual carriageway section bypassing Derby was built, it formerly went through Burton-upon-Trent and Ashby-de-la-Zouch to Leicester and beyond, but that section is now designated the A511 road
