A66 road: Meaning (information, definition, explanation, facts)

The A66 is a major road in England. It runs from Middlesbrough in North Yorkshire to Workington in Cumbria.

From Middlesbrough, it runs past Stockton-on-Tees and Darlington, before meeting the A1 road. From its junction with the A1 road at Scotch Corner, the road heads west, across the Pennines, through Appleby, Penrith, Keswick and Cockermouth, through the northern reaches of the Lake District, before arriving at the coastal town of Workington.
