Andy Machado: Meaning (information, definition, explanation, facts)

Anderson Javier "Andy" Machado [ma-CHA-do] (born January 25, 1981 in Caracas, Venezuela) is a Major League Baseball shortstop and switch-hitter batter who plays for the Cincinnati Reds. He made his debut with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2003 and was traded to Cincinnati in the current season.

Machado has soft hands, good range, a quick feet and a cannon for an arm. But he has hit the ball very little in the minors, being able to draw 108 walks and yet still find time to strikeout 120 times. His speed allows him to run the bases well, and he is adept at taking the extra base.

In one game with the Phillies as pinch-runner, Machado steal one base.
