BBC Sports Personality of the Year Young Personality: Meaning (information, definition, explanation, facts)

The BBC Sports Personality of the Year award has been given to one British sportsperson each year since 1954. The award is voted for by the public. As well as the main award there are currently seven other categories.

In 1999 the Newcomer Award was initiated, Dean Macey and Jenson Button respectively being the first recipients. It was replaced in 2001 by the award for the Young Personality and the winners have been:
