Baskin-Robbins: Meaning (information, definition, explanation, facts)

Baskin-Robbins is an ice cream establishment founded in 1945 in Glendale, California. It claims to be "the world's largest ice cream franchise", with more than 4,500 locations, 2,300 of which are located in the United States. Baskin-Robbins was purchased in 1973 by the British company J. Lyons and Co., which later became part of Allied Domecq plc. Baskin-Robbins, Togo's, and Dunkin Donuts comprise Allied Domecq Quick Service Restaurants, part of Allied Domecq plc.

Baskin-Robbins is also known for its 'Thirty-One Flavors' slogan. Although its flavor library consists of 1000 flavors, only 31 flavors are available at a store at a given time, one for each day of the month.

In practice, most Baskin-Robbins' franchises carry 32 flavors at any given time, due to the rectangular shape of the refrigeration units and the primality of the number 31.
