Billy Martin (musician): Meaning (information, definition, explanation, facts)

Billy Martin is the drummer with noted jazz outfit, Medeski Martin & Wood.

Billy Martin (born June 15, 1981) is the guitarist for rock band Good Charlotte. Born in Napptown, Maryland, Martin has been playing guitar from a young age, in 6th grade, he received his first guitar for Christmas, and ever since has been playing in bands. His first band was Overflow, started with friend and DJ and Steve Stievers, who now helps Billy run his clothing line, LeVeL 27.

Billy Martin was a pseudonym that Billy Joel briefly adopted around 1972, in an attempt to get away from what he perceived at the time was mismanagement and the fact that his first album, Cold Spring Harbor, was, according to him, mixed too fast, making him sound like a chipmunk, started playing piano in bars in Los Angeles, California under the pseudonym "Billy Martin". (Billy's full name is William Martin Joel, so it wasn't much of a pseudonym.) Anyway, the experience gave him material for the title track to the Piano Man album.
