Bleeding edge: Meaning (information, definition, explanation, facts)

In computer science, bleeding edge is a term that refers to technology that is so new (and thus, presumably, somewhat buggy) that the user is requred to risk reductions in stability and productivity in order to use it.

The term is a pun referring to leading edge, but implying a greater degree of risk.
