Cheaha Mountain: Meaning (information, definition, explanation, facts)

Cheaha Mountain is, at an elevation of 2,043 feet (654 m), the highest point in the state of Alabama.

The mountain is located in a scenic state park a few miles northeast of Talladega, which contains a lodge, restaurant, and other ammenties. The actual summit has been developed with a wooden walkway which is handicapped-accessible and provides an impressive overlook of the surrounding region. The entire area gives an impression of being at a much higher elevation than it actually is, in part because of the relatively low elevation of the adjacent area to the west.

Cheaha Mountain is geologically related to the Appalachian Plateau, generally known in Tennessee as the Cumberland Plateau or the Cumberland Mountains.
