Guitarist Gilby Clarke was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on August 17, 1962. He spent his childhood playing with musical instruments, and neglecting school. In the early 80's, Gilby was part of a pop band, "Candy". They released one album before Gilby moved onto a pop metal band called "Kills for Thrills".
Gilby is best known for his somewhat short, 4 year tenure as Guns N' Roses' rythm guitarist. In November of 1991, GnR's rythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin decided to quit the band. The Guns were in the middle of a 28 month world tour, and hired Gilby. Gilby played with GnR on "The Spaghetti Incident" which is the last GnR album up-to-date.
In 1994 Gilby made his debut solo album, "PawnShop Guitars" which featured himself and several friends (including GnR members). In 1995 Gilby was fired from Guns N' Roses.
Since then Gilby has released another solo album, played with several bands, and is currently in a band "the Starf*ckers".
