Holstentor: Meaning (information, definition, explanation, facts)

Holstentor

The Holstentor is part of the medieval fortifications of Lübeck in Germany. It has been erected by the city master builder Hinrich Helmsted between 1464 and 1478.

It consists of two towers with an arched entranceway between them and is a popular place to eat lunch when the weather is good. At the present time the southern tower is leaning into the structure and may need repair.
