Illinois Territory: Meaning (information, definition, explanation, facts)

Illinois Territory was a historic, organized territory of the United States from February 3, 1809 and organized into the state of Illinois in December 3, 1818.

It was separated out of the west of Indiana Territory and included Illinois, Wisconsin and parts of Minnesota. This land was attached to the Michigan Territory after Illinois became a state.

Kaskaskia was the territorial capital.
