La Clemenza di Tito: Meaning (information, definition, explanation, facts)

The opera La Clamenza di Tito (The Clemency of Titus), K. 621, was written by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, it was in fact his very last opera, written just after his towering opera Die Zauberflöte. Completed in just 18 days, its commission was for one of the coronations of Emperor Leopold II.

It lacks the typical inspiration of Mozart, and is based on a libretto by Metastasio The story follows that a Holy Roman Emperor forgives his enemies far too easily, and is hence assassinated.
