Pre-Revolutionary War treaties
Although the U.S. is not a party to these, not coming into existence till 1776, these treaties have had some relevance to later U.S. history.
U.S. International Treaties
These are treaties the U.S. made with other international states. This is mostly to distinguish them from the next category. Under the United States Constitution, treaties must be ratified by the two-thirds approval of United States Senate in order to take effect.
