Locomotion: Meaning (information, definition, explanation, facts)

In biology, locomotion is the self-powered, patterned motion of limbs or other anatomical parts by which an individual customarily moves itself from place to place. Forms of locomotion are walking, running, crawling, swimming and flying.

In a more general sense, locomotion simply means active movement or travel, applying not just to biological individuals.

In engineering, Locomotion is the name of an early steam railway locomotive, even older than Stephenson's Rocket.
