Majulah Singapura: Meaning (information, definition, explanation, facts)

Majulah Singapura is the national anthem of Singapore. It was composed during 1956 - 1957 by the late Encik Zubir Said. It was first officially launched on December 3rd, 1959 with the National Flag and State Crest of Singapore on the inauguration of the head of state, Yang di-Pertuan Negara on the city hall steps. Majulah Singapura was adopted as Singapore's National Anthem upon independence in 1965. It is interesting to note that many Singaporeans only know the lyrics to the song but do not understand Malay. Many rely on English translations of the song to understand what they are singing.

Mari kita rakyat Singapura
Sama-sama menuju bahagia
Cita-cita kita yang mulia
Berjaya Singapura
Marilah kita bersatu
Dengan semangat yang baru
Semua kita berseru
Majulah Singapura

ONWARD SINGAPORE

Come, fellow Singaporeans
Let us progress towards happiness together
May our noble aspiration bring

Come, let us unite
In a new spirit
Let our voices soar as one
Onward Singapore
Onward Singapore
