Marja: Meaning (information, definition, explanation, facts)

A Marja is the highest authority on religion and law in Shi'a Islam. Where a difference in opinion exist between the Marjah, Aalims (Religious Scholars) try to provide different opinions.

Four senior Grand Ayatollahs constitute the Religious Institution Hawza Ilmiyyah in Najaf, the preeminent seminary center for the training of Shia clergymen. The Iranians have their own institution in Qom.
