Mesotrophic: Meaning (information, definition, explanation, facts)

Mesotrophic is a term applied to clear water lakes and ponds with beds of submerged aquatic plants and medium levels of nutrients. These lakes are also of intermediate clarity, depth and temperature. The term is used to differentiate the type of water being discussed from other types such as: brackish water, eutrophic water, fresh water, heavy water, oligotrophic water, reclaimed water, relict water, and salt water.
