The Metropolitan Life Insurance Company was founded on March 24, 1868.
In 1991, when PanAm went out of business, the company purchased the building, renaming the building the MetLife Building.
They also had offices on the 89th floor of One World Trade Center in the North Tower.
They are curentally headquartered in the Met Life Tower, located at 1 Madison Avenue, New York City. They own space in at least 30 buildings in the US and 1 proposed bu7ilding in Mexico.
