Nectanebo II (reigend 360-343 BC), also known by the name Nakhthoreb, was the third and last king of the 30th dynasty of Egypt and the last native ruler of the country.
Nectanebo was placed on the Egyptian throne by Spartan king Agesilaus II, who helped him overthrow Tachos and fight off a rival pretender. He was defeated by the Persian king Artaxerxes III, who suceeded in conqering Egypt. Nectanebo fled first to Memphis and then into Upper Egypt, where he vanishes from history.
