The Negev (Hebrew: נֶגֶב‎, Tiberian vocalization: Néḡeḇ; Arabic: النقب‎, an-Naqab) is the desert region of southern Israel which makes up the majority of Israel's official Southern District. The word Negev in Hebrew means 'south', whilst Nigev means 'dry'.
