No. 1790 Squadron FAA: Meaning (information, definition, explanation, facts)

No. 1790 Squadron of the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy of the United Kingdom was formed on 1 January 1945 at Burscough as a night fighter squadron. It was initially equipped with Fairey Firefly Is, replaced in May of 1945 by Firefly INFs, wihch were fitted with a US-derived ASV radar. The squadron joined HMS Vindex on 24 June, bound for Australia, with the ship arriving as the war ended. The squadronwas disbanded on 3 June 1946 at Devonport.
