Oliver R. Smoot is Chairman of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and President of the International Standards Organization (ISO). As a pledge member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity in 1958, he was used to measure the Harvard Bridge and became the standard for the smoot.
