Peter Alliss: Meaning (information, definition, explanation, facts)

Peter Alliss (born 1931) is a golf player, TV commentator, and author.

Alliss quit school at the age of 14 and began his career as a professional golf player in 1947, at the age of 16. In his 27 years of playing, hhe won three British PGA Championships, played in eight Ryder Cup teams, and played on ten teams representing England in the World Cup. He won 23 tournaments, and gave Sean Connery golf tips before he filmed Goldfinger. He was the Captain of the Professional Golfers' Association twice, the president of the British Greenkeeper's Association, and was the first president of the European Women's Professional Golfer's Association. He's worked as a commentator for ABC, BBC, for Australian Broadcasting Corporations, and Canadian Broadcasting Corporations. He's hosted a total of 140 Pro Celebrity Golf tv programs, was the host of Around with Alliss, and is currently starring in A Golfer's Travels, which is airing worldwide. His company, Peter Alliss - Golf Limited, builds golf courses in Europe and the Middle East. He's written twenty books, the last of which was Golf Heroes. He's written articles in Golf International and Golf World Magazine.
