Pine email client: Meaning (information, definition, explanation, facts)

Pine is an email client: the University of Washington's "Program for Internet News & Email." It is also a self-referential acronym for "Pine Is Not Elm" (in reference to Elm, another email client), although the former designation is now the official one.

There are both Unix and Windows versions of Pine. The Unix version is command line interface-based. Its user interface inspired the Pico text editor. Pine and Pico are registered trademarks of the University of Washington.
