Queercore: Meaning (information, definition, explanation, facts)

Queercore is a musical genre distinguished by lyrics dealing with issues such as homosexuality, gay rights and gender identity, sometimes in a serious way, sometimes more light-heartedly. Musically, it usually resembles punk rock, power pop, indie rock and similar genres.

Among the better known queercore bands are God Is My Co-Pilot, Pansy Division (made up of gay men), Team Dresch (mainly made up of lesbians), Homomilitia, Tribe 8, Cunts with Attitude and The Butchies. Representing a more contemporary breed of gay hardcore punk are Limp Wrist from the United States and Knifed from Scotland.
