Rajkot: Meaning (information, definition, explanation, facts)

Rajkot (2001 pop. 966,642) is a city of Gujarat state in India.

Founded in 1610 by Vibhaji Jadeja and Raju Sandhi, it later became the capital of Saurashtra and a headquarters for the British rule. Mahatma Gandhi spent his early years in Rajkot while his father was a Diwan to the Saurashtran Nawab, and the house where Gandhi lived is now a museum named Kaba Gandhi No Delo.
