Ransom Everglades: Meaning (information, definition, explanation, facts)

Ransom Everglades consists of two educational institutions in Coconut Grove, Florida, one middle school and one high school. The two schools, the Everglades School for Girls and Ransom, a school for boys, merged in the early 1970s.

The Everglades School for Girls was started by Mary B. Swenson in the 1950s; Ransom, intended as an all-boys school, was started in 1903 by Paul C. Ransom.

The high school, formerly Ransom, is located on the shore of Miami Bay. The middle school, formerly Everglades, is about three miles from the high school and is not located on the water.
