RealPlayer: Meaning (information, definition, explanation, facts)

RealPlayer is a media player by RealNetworks that plays many multimedia formats including its own RealAudio codec. The newest version of the program is RealPlayer 10. RealPlayer plays virtually every major multimedia format (.ram, .ra, CDs etc.) and also contains CD burning capabilities, media library, a web browser (based on Internet Explorer) and other features. RealNetworks had named their product as RealPlayer until up to version 9, which was called RealOne Player. Version 10 has seen a change of action from the company, reverting back to the former name. It has an open source equivalent is called Helix player.
