The Macedonian national football team is the national football team of the Republic of Macedonia and is controlled by the Football Federation of Macedonia. Technically, because FIFA controls world football, the official FIFA name is the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia to conform with international sensibilities. They played their first match in 1993 after the split of Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Before that, Yugoslav Macedonian players played for the Yugoslavia national football team. They usually play their home games at Gradski Stadium and Skopje City Stadium. The Republic of Macedonia is currently 49th on the FIFA World Rankings list for March 2007, up 4 places from the February 2007 list. This is their highest ever position on the FIFA Rankings list.
