Samsonite is the world’s largest maker of luggage, making everything from large suitcases to smaller toiletries bags. It was started in Colorado in 1910 by Jess Shwayder and was first called the Shwayder Trunk Manufacturing Company. Shwayder named one of his initial cases "Samson," after the Biblical strong man of the same name. In 1966, the company name was changed to Samsonite.
