A season finale is the final episode of a season of a television program. Frequently a season finale will contain cliffhangers to be resolved in the next season ( usually did this, and the finale of the first season of Twin Peaks is an extreme example). Other times a season finale will wrap up open-ended storylines and bring them to a close.
