Seedstock: Meaning (information, definition, explanation, facts)

Seedstock - trees left after clearfelling to provide seed for natural regeneration. Often proponents of clearfelling would overstate the ability of these trees to rectify the damage wrought from the clearfelling operation. Seed "throw" was at best unreliable especially where profound damage had taken place. Many of the environmentally inclined saw this exercise as little more than a sop.
