On this page about Sequence:
In mathematics, a sequence is an ordered list of objects (or events). Like a set, it contains members (also called elements or terms), and the number of terms (possibly infinite) is called the length of the sequence. Unlike a set, order matters, and the exact same elements can appear multiple times at different positions in the sequence.

Sequence clusters can reduce a large database of sequences to a smaller set of "sequence representatives", each of which should "represent" its cluster at the sequence level. Sequence representatives allow the effective coverage of the original database with fewer sequences. The database of...
In chemistry, sequence analysis is a techniques used to determine the sequence of a polymer formed... "sequencing." The term "sequence analysis" in biology implies subjecting a DNA or amino acid sequence to sequence alignment, sequence database, repeated sequence searches, or other bioinformatics methods on a...

In telecommunication, bit-sequence independence is a characteristic of some digital data transmission systems that impose no restrictions on, or modification of, the transmitted bit sequence. Bit-sequence-independent protocols are in contrast to protocols that reserve certain bit sequences for...
In bioinformatics, sequence clustering algorithms attempt to group sequences that are somehow related. The sequences can be either of genomic, "transcriptomic" (ESTs) or protein origin. For proteins, homologous sequences are typically grouped into families. For EST data, clustering is important to...
Shotgun sequencing is a method used in genetics for sequencing long DNA strands. Small segments of DNA are cloned randomly, and then these clones are sequenced. By doing this for several copies of... overlapping sequences and determine the original (long) sequence. An extremely simplified example...
