The Sweden national team (Landslaget in Swedish) is controlled by the Swedish Football Association. The current manager of the team, Lars Lagerbäck, originally joined the coaching staff in 1997 as an assistant to Tommy Söderberg, and was promoted to joint coach in 2000. After Euro 2004, Söderberg chose to leave his post with the senior national team to take over Sweden's under-21 national team, leaving Lagerbäck as sole coach.
