The Irish News is the only "quality" newspaper published in Northern Ireland.
Its competitors are the Ulster Unionist tabloid the (Belfast) News Letter and the Belfast Telegraph. Though the Belfast Telegraph is broadsheet in format, it is tabloid in content.
It is broadly Irish Nationalist and Social Democratic in outlook.
