The Killers: Meaning (information, definition, explanation, facts)

The Killers is an alternative rock band from Las Vegas, Nevada, formed in 2002.

The band took their name from a New Order video known as Crystal.

Band Members:

Brandon Flowers – Vocals, Keyboards; David Keuning – Guitars; Mark Stoermer – Bass; Ronnie Vannucci – Drums;

In 2002, Brandon Flowers, the future vocalist of The Killers, was abandoned by the first band that he was in known as Blush Response after he declined to move with the rest of them to Los Angeles. After he was ditched, Flowers later responded to future The Killers’ guitarist David Keuning’s ad in the Las Vegas Weekly about forming a band which was inspired by The Cure or The Beatles. They later went through some bass guitarists and drummers until they found Mark Stoermer and Ronnie Vannucci to fill the posts.

Before they had become a band, all four of them had various jobs: Brandon Flowers was a bellhop at the Gold Coast Hotel; David Keuning, who was originally from Iowa, worked at a Banana Republic store, at which he was rumored to have many trysts with some female customers in the dressing room; Mark Stoermer worked as a medical courier delivering various medical supplies—blood, urine, and body parts; Ronnie Vannucci was a student of classical percussion at UNLV and worked as a photographer at the Little Chapel of Flowers—where Britney Spears was temporarily hitched.

Their band name The Killers was taken from a New Order video titled Crystal. It was featured on the drums of a mock band in the video.

Word about The Killers spread across the Atlantic Ocean to the U.K where a London-based indie record label known as Lizard King caught their attention. They later signed up with them, and in the future, with Island Records.

The band had also encountered various difficulties in reaching. The Killers band was shook by and earthquake during the recording of their song “Believe Me Natalie” at Lizard King, which drove drummer Ronnie Vannucci from his stool. They encountered fires in Simi Valley in order to record their song “Change Your Mind” in the American version of their single Hot Fuss and they thought they were going to die when their private jet hit an air pocket in December 2003 when flying to the U.K.

The band has first known when they released their first album Hot Fuss in 2004 on Island Records with their first single "Somebody Told Me", released on that same year.

The band had recent chart sucess with their single "Mr.Brightside" and have an upcoming single titled "All These Things I've Done".

Quotes

David Keuning about Brandon Flowers: “He was the only person to reply to my ad who wasn’t a complete freak”, remembers Dave, fondly. “He came over with his keyboard and we started going through song ideas straight away. I had the verse to “Mr. Brightside” and he went away and wrote the chorus. That was the first song we wrote together and remains the only song that we’ve played at every single Killers show”.
